Frequently Asked Questions
What is pediatric occupational therapy?
Pediatric occupational therapy helps children participate more fully in the activities that are meaningful and necessary in daily life. For children, this may include play, school participation, self-care, movement, sensory regulation, handwriting, feeding-related skills, and family routines.
Where do sessions take place?
Trellis OT is a mobile, community-based practice. Sessions take place in the child’s natural environments including homes, schools, daycares, parks, playgrounds, or other appropriate community settings.
Do you have a clinic location?
No. Trellis Occupational Therapy does not have a physical clinic space. Services are provided in natural environments throughout the community.
What ages do you serve?
Trellis OT primarily serves pediatric clients, from early childhood through young adulthood. The exact fit can be discussed during the intake process.
Do parents need to participate?
Yes. Parent and caregiver participation is an important part of the Trellis OT approach. Meg uses a parent coaching model to help strategies carry over into everyday routines.
Do you accept insurance?
Trellis OT is a private-pay practice. Families may be able to submit documentation for possible out-of-network reimbursement depending on their insurance plan. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate explaining how much your health care will cost.
Can you work with my child’s school or other providers?
Yes, Trellis OT believes in an interdisciplinary approach to treatment when appropriate and with caregiver consent, we may collaborate with teachers, caregivers, speech therapists, physical therapists, psychologists, physicians, or other members of your child’s support team.
What if my child already had an OT evaluation?
If your child has had an occupational therapy evaluation within the past 12 months, Trellis OT may be able to review that evaluation and begin treatment without completing a new full evaluation.
